Default Coil spring decision

Ok i measured my lift on my rig and it appears my front has gone from 4" to 3.25". WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!??!! I blame the heavy skids that i installed. I currently have Old Man Emu 930's which have i believe a spring rate of 160. This is almost near stock spring rate and the reason why they are sagging (and why they ride so nice). Now i'm different when it comes to picking springs. Alot of people just choose springs based on the advertised height but i prefer to go by the actual spring rate so i can fine tune my ride and keep it smooth instead of getting a 4" coil that's too darn stiff. I have been looking around for a spring rate of 180 and only found one, which is rusty's. I want to aim for about 180 because my rear springs are about 180 too. The extra spring rate will hold up the skids better too. I'm not too sure about ordering rusty's springs because of all the bad stuff i heard about them but most people say his springs are good. He has a 3" HD coil spring with 180 spring rate for $99. The springs are not made in-house.

http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...ory_Code=COILS

Think i should go with these and add a spacer on top for 4"? I must have at least 4" to install my rough country brackets and allow me to shine my headlights forward instead of down on the road like they are now with my hot rod setup.

I was going to get 4wd hardware springs from 4wd. They cost $129 BUT i found out that they switched from bds to procomp for their springs. I've researched the spring rates for pro-comp's 3" coils and they are 220, which would be STIFF. Alot of jeepers who have used those springs say they ride very stiff so i dropped this plan.

Think rusty's will be ok? Anyone know of any other spring that's around 180 and provides 3"-4" of lift?

I have my OME coils and 1" spacers for sale to offset the cost. You can find them in the for sale forum.

I would keep looking mudd. I think that there are something out there that has to be better than Rusty's stuff. what rate do the RE ones have for their 4.5" springs? I know they are longer than you are wanting but they may settle out at 4" with heavy skids.

i understand rusty's bad rep but you know my opinion lol. And i really like his springs ride very well and flex very well. i have added a bumper to the front of mine with no sag, adn 2" spacers on top of my 4.5 " springs. And 99 bucks is a good deal.

RE 3.5" XJ coil 241 lbs/inch
RE 4.5" XJ coil 169 lbs/inch
RE 5.5" XJ coil 185 lbs/inch

Rustys 3" XJ standard coil 150 lbs/inch
Rustys 3" XJ Heavy Duty coil 180 lbs/inch
Rustsy 4.5" XJ coil 150 lbs/inch
Rustsy 6.5" XJ coil 150 lbs/inch
Rustys 9" XJ coil 180 lbs/inch

OME 930 XJ coil 160 lbs/inch ~2"
OME 934 ZJ coil 180 lbs/inch

OLD MAN EMU-CS034RA (OMEJC1A) 5 leaves in pack, 148lbs/inch s.r. 230mm (9.055") free height= Average lift of ~3"
OLD MAN EMU-CS034RB (OMEJC1B) 5 leaves in pack, 148lbs/inch s.r. 205mm (8.07") free height
OLD MAN EMU-CS035RA (OMEJC2A) 4 + 1 overload, 137/257lbs/in s.r. 235mm (9.25") free height
OLD MAN EMU-CS035RB (OMEJC2B) 4 + 1 overload, 137/257lbs/in s.r. 210mm (8.27") free height
OLD MAN EMU- D22XL (OME Add A Leaf) ~ 1" lift on top of their lift packs

Blue, I considered RE's but they are a bit pricey (of course cuz of quality) and from what i've read, they always net 1" more than advertised so i don't want to go in the 5" range. I want to keep it at 4" or less since i'm on short arms and running a LP30 front axle.

I've read so much crap about rusty's lift, parts, and accessories but of the 11 threads i read about his coils, only one was a complaint and it was about them sagging. Could've been cuz of lack of bumpstops or too much weight on the rig, who knows but it seems their coils are pretty decent. They would be expected to sag a bit due to their light spring rate, just like my old man emu's did. I wouldn't mind his coils but it's the customer service/shipping mishaps that he's famous for and i don't want to go through with that.

I'm trying to find spring rates for skyjacker's 3" coil springs. I tried calling but it seems they do not like the relay system i use to make calls and hang up (deaf). I'm gonna keep searching the forums for the answer.

Me I'd go with what what ever you want.. Another option to look at is the superlift coils sold at Summit..They are for a 4" lift and I know they ride good and don't sag..Friend has em on his XJ..
