Question Clunking/banging from transfer case?

I little while ago I was putting a tc drop on my 98' Cherokee. I unbolted it from the frame and it was being supported by a floor jack. Well, the jack failed (slipped?) and the t case dropped pretty hard and was hanging with no support. I quickly got the jack back under it and finished the job. Now I'm getting some clunking from the tc on bumps and sometimes turns. Could I have broken something? The car runs like it should apart from the occasional banging around.

Sounds like exhaust might be hitting. Had the same issue after my t case drop.

So the pipe might be hitting the cross-member now that its lowered?

I would have to look again since it was several years ago but i think there was an exhaust hanger mounted in that area that was pulling down on the pipe after it was lowered.

My money's on exhaust banging crossmember. Should have a thumb sized gas between the pipe and crossmember

Do you have a t case skid? That would do it too I chased a problem like that would only do it on bumps and seen that the t case was hitting the skid. But its prob the pipe hitting the crossmember.
