clunk from front end

Default clunk from front end

Hey, iv seen some good info on here now i need some help. i own an 89 xj when i have it in 4 wheel i get this violent clunk from the front end. i have crawled under and looked for anything loose but cant seem to figure it out.

I know u said it happens in 4wd but when and how? While just driving, over bumps, when you turn? Is it repeated or just once?

Love to help but we need more info. is it when it first enguages, all the time, acceleration, decel , only once or all the time? What trans t/c do you have ? Be a little more specific please

when im in 4 wheel and im going up a slope right when i apply the gas ill get a clunk. and very rarly in 2wd it will do it

Check the u joints in your front shaft i'll bet you have a bad one .

Take your front diff cover off and check your spider gears. They might look like this. The way your describing it, it sounds like what mine sounded like.

pretty sure iv figured out this clunk . today i was checking on a fuel line and discoverd a lone bolt laying on the crossmember under the t-case and the one on the other side is also loose
