Default Clicking in the dash

I have what sounds like an electrical clicking in the dash just right of the steering column. The speed of the click is the same speed of the "pulsing" of the guages. And I accelerate the click gets faster and just the opposite when I decellerate. Is this normal? And does anyone have the same problem or might know what this is? Thanks for the help

No one has any suggestions on what it even might be or might have experienced this same thing? This is the 4th post I have put on here that has had no response. Interesting

just climb unerd the xj and on the tras or transfer case at the rear there will be a cable with a large nut ardound it to save time unscrew it and pull it out then drive see if the noise is gone if not you going to have to replace the cable

Can you explain what you mean by "pulsing of the guages"?

Yes, the guages "pulse" or jump as if there is an electrical current spiking i guess you could say. Like when I am idling at a stop all of my guages, the speedo the tach oil pressure, fuel level and amps all "pulse together they dont stay still at the accurate reading. And I noticed that this noise happens the same time they move and it never stops.

the only pulse you will get out of electrical systems is either a relay going in or out or spark plug wire see if the closest spark plug wire to the fire wall is bad

Voltage regulator maybe? Or alternator?

Not the speedo if it happens at standstill.

you have a one of a kind "techno-jeep" it pulses AND flashes lights at you at different speeds.

it could be the alternator. have the gauges gone totally out while youve been driving?

the clicking is a relay and its clicking in and out because its losing power making your gauges go all wonkey
check charging voltage at your battery when running
