Default Clear turn signal lens stock?

I need an xj expert!! My 1998 limited XJ had clear turn signal lenses with amber bulbs when I bought it I was rear ended and have to have a brake and light inspection. The shop failed it saying my lense needs to be amber. I told him it came that way. They are not euro, I checked. I need to know if anyone knows if they came from the dealer that way?

Not stock. Those are aftermarket non DOT approved markers. They NEED to be orange to be DOT compliant.

Just cause something came a certain way does not mean it is the correct way.

This is why I am glad Michigan doesn't have inspections. It may not be stock, but if the bulbs are amber, he shouldn't have a case. Look at almost any new car and the marker lights are clear with an amber bulb.

For example...

Laws are different everywhere, but most say that what is stock on the vehicle must be there for inspections.

At least its nice that amber lens ones are cheap and could be swapped out in 5 minutes. I'm obviously partial to the clear look:

They are DOT, stamped right on them. I did call the BAR and they told me they are legal to be clear with amber bulbs and the shop was wrong to fail/require me to have an amber lense. I just wanted to know of the limited trim came that way stock from the dealer.

How can California not have complete vehicle inspections like other states do? I feel like I'm getting lucky on this one.

I just parked behind a new Prius today and both the tail/brake lights and the turn signal lenses were clear with colored LED bulbs. It makes perfect sense to me. LOL!
