A little story.....when I worked at Valvoline, we had an old guy in a classic 60's Ford pickup come in with Georgia plates. The whole bottom was covered in red Georgia clay, but no rust! I asked him how he managed to keep it from rusting and he told me every 6 months he sprays it underneath with 90-weight gear oil! Then I asked him how he can spray heavy gear oil and he said he mixes it 50/50 with gasoline! Are you kidding me? Then he tells me the mud falls off with a garden hose. It's true because we had to clean it to do the oil change. He gave us a $10 tip.

I don't think I could get along with the stink of gear oil.

That is just a variation of the used motor oil/diesel fuel trick..
You do that and then go take a ride on a dusty road.

I can see that, but mixing it with gasoline sounds dangerous! At least diesel/kerosene won't ignite with a spark.

I picked up a Ryobi pressure washer floor broom attachment. You can set it to spray upward as well as down. My only complaint is I have a lifted Jeep and the spray is not as direct when wheeled on the ground so I have to sometimes hold it up.
