Should I use Throttle body cleaner? I read another post somewhere on here that some people use carburetor cleaner? Any advice? And also, how do I exactly clean the throttle body? I only found a write up for the IAC. Thanks for any help in advance.

Take out IAC, using carb or TB cleaner spray and and gently scrub with a toothbrush. Scrubbing too hard can offset it and cause low or high idle.

TB, spray some TB cleaner on a lint free rag and wipe it down, inside and out.

From what I have read on here in the past the >Throttle body cleaner< is the recommended cleaner for the IAC since it is supposedly a little gentler?? I have not verified this but if they sell both types I am assuming there must be a difference from one to the other. I dont think either would hurt but the Carb cleaner from what it sounds like is a little more abrasive.

yea, x2 on the TB cleaner. i guess carb cleaner will take off the film on the inside of the TB and leave it like fly paper! also, make sure to take both the IAC valve and the TPS off and clean them separately. there is a paper gasket on the IAC that will probably be no good once the IAC is removed. silicone can be a substitute for a gasket... be thurough and get all the TB cleaner out! this is a fun and easy project.

Brake is stronger than carb, carb is stronger than TB. Carb and TB are safe, brake cleaner will kill it.

Ive used carb with no problems, its what I had in my garage. If you have TB cleaner, dont go out of your way for carb cleaner. And vice versa.

i have this issue where my jeep will randomly hesitate, back fire, and buck...
i was wondering, as i didnt have this info before...... a few months ago i cleaned my TB and installed a the new IAC i bought off line. the paper gasket on the old IAC was no good, but the new one didnt come w/ a gasket. so i just threw it on. but you mentioned the high/low idle issue. my jeep will run properly above 3k rpm, or what im assuming is high idle. the problem i have is only in low idle... so is the IAC causing these issues? i have a long list of part fixed or replaced if that will help...

ok, here we go:
NEW:
-IAC
-TPS
-plugs/wires
-cap/rotor

OTHER:
-hand checked injectors, ran cleaner thru gas a few times
-blew gas lines out
-checked/cleaned gas tank and pump/filter assambly

i think thats all. it wont throw a CEL, if it starts happening, i can, while driving, put it in N, turn it off and back on, put it in D, and the issue will usually stop for a while. i noticed how if i turn my key to the on position right before starting so the fuel pump can "prime", it will start quicker... idk if its relevent, but... heres that link to the IAC valve again... its the first one in the list. price is still the same as when i got mine. thanks.
