I would be careful with this. You really don't want to remove/replace any bolts, including spark plugs, on a hot engine. On aluminum heads especially as you can even crack a head with enough torque, but not just that you risk breaking the plug/bolt off in the head and if you can't get it out yourself the head is making a trip to a machine shop.

Stuff and nonsense. Car repair in a can? Really? If your engine is so carboned up it's affecting performance, it's time for a tear down and possibly even some new normal wear parts. But hey! I AM gonna dump some gas in MY crankcase.. What could it possibly hurt?

I thought only 99+ had aluminum heads?
Honestly I've always replaced my oil when she hot, and have a few times done plugs ( was in a hurry) never seize and hand tight with a little bit of socket action they should never be that hard in there, but he does have a point, but I also imagine with it heated up it would come out easier? Like when you heat up a bolt and nut to remove them? I maybe wrong haha

I've got some before and after shots of my injectors after usuing techron and regan for a few tanks?

No offence.

Never used a water hose, but room temp water out of a cup does work. sounds like an accident waiting to happen but no. I do it before I change my plugs, just a little dribble at a time and work the throttle. Not alot is needed.
If you want nuts try using comet (yes the cleaner) to set your rings on a new engine after break in. thought it was crazy myself till I saw it done. Hey it worked, old timer racing mech from back in the 60s' showed me. He made a very liquidy paste in a cup and dribbled it right through the butterflies, said if you did it wrong you'd know right away.

hey the old school guys know what they are doing, on the OLD SCHOOL stuff, but the modern engine is entirely different.

Its like how everyone thinks carb cleaner will damage plastic, paint, and ruin rubber gaskets and lines. THIS IS 100% false. its been about 10 years since the formulas for carb cleaner have been modified to prevent these problems.

I am a professional. A lot of these "tricks" may work, at the risk to doing way more damage than you think. And its nuts to do them, but hey its job security for me!

BG44K in the gas tank to clean injectors and the backs of the intake valves.

Marvel Mystery Oil, 1 quart, in the oil to help free up possibly stuck rings.

Running water through the motor is fine. In my cummins I inject water into it to keep egts down.

Remove your spark plugs and use a turkey baster, it will get more in your cylinders than trying it thru a vacuum hose, I didn't read the article but most say do it that way

I had a water injection system that was made by Edelbrock? years ago on a high compression gasoline engine run at sea level.

Isn't this OEM Cherokee tech forum? Stock, yes water injection is used in racing. I was involved in racing for awhile. Dyno testing showed it lowered the power output of the engine, but made the engine run smoother through the powerband. That was my experience playing with roundy roundy dirt track cars.

Yes. But just because you're not familiar with on old mechanic's trick does not mean it is now not or never was useful. I was just pointing out that water, properly metered into a gasoline engine does no harm. It's quite effective at removing carbon from combustion chambers, including piston tops and valve heads. Remember, this was before BG ever existed.

Running water or better misting water down a carburator is a pretty old trick but you have to be really carefill ! I like Sea Foam best I've used it for years it works well. Last but not least there is the really old trick of using Kerosene to clean your engine mixed with new oil. Just don't allow the engine to get hot!!!!!!!!!!! I have almost 100K on mine and have used nothiing but Mobile one and just changed my my valve cover gasket and it was spotless onthe inside.
