I have a 1990 Comanche 4.0L, manual trans, 4x4. it has 3.07 ratio. I have an 8.25 with 3.55 that I want to swap into it, but would like to stay the same ratio. I've been searching and all I can find is 3.08 for the 8.25. but there is someone on ebay that says they have a ring and pinion for the 8.25 that is 3.07, so what I'm wondering is if the 8.25 ever came with 3.07 or if they changed to 3.08?

 

3.08 is close enough it doesn't really matter. My question is why not just go to 3.55 its a better ratio for nearly every purpose.

 

do you know how the 3.55's would effect my speed down the hwy?

 

What size tires do you have or want to run later on?

 

235/75-15 after I get a 4.5" lift 33's. But the lift wont be for awhile.

 

Xjs with manual shift and 4.0 with 8.25 should be 307. If ya install 355 gonna need a 355 front also.

 

I have a donor 97. So that's not an issue if I go with the 3.55's.

 

Just change speedo gear so it correct and drive it like ya stole it...lol...355 will bring pep to a 1990. Just see if yours is long or short.
