Default Chrysler 8.25 backing plate studs

Currently rebuilding an 8.25 and can’t find anywhere the stud size for the backing plates. Does anyone know of the size or a part number? Thanks!

Did these work for you? I’m also finding a zillion for a Dana 44 and none for the C8.25. Anyone know the part number? The pet number listed below is for the Dana 44 according to websites selling it.

I haven’t gotten around to it yet, had to put off my project for a while. If I remember correctly I was able to find the part number deep in a manual online but wasn’t able to match the part number to any active parts online. Aggravating for sure

From what I’ve read on ZJ disc swaps for the 8.25, the best method and the one I’ll probably do tomorrow is install them with 1.5" long 3/8"-16 Grade 8 bolts with lockwashers and nuts. might have to shave down the hex head a bit to fit next to the axel. TBD.

lmk if that works out for you. If it does I’ll probably take that approach. Not like it’s gonna come off anytime soon lol

Thanks Bruce - but that doesn’t include what axel it’s designed for. Online information only mentions the Dana 44
  • Jeep Wrangler (TJ) (1997-2006) w/ Dana 44 Rear Axle.
  • Jeep Wrangler (YJ) (1987-1995); KDX; w/ Dana 44 Rear Axle.
  • Jeep CJ-7 (1986) w/ Dana 44 Rear Axle.

worked perfect for a stock 9” drum on a C8.25. Grade 8 3/8”x1/2” bolts. Might have gone 3/4” if I was to do it again. But these match stock length plus total cost was $3 and available locally.
