Chrome or Diamond Plate Rocker Panels
Does anyone know of a good place to buy chrome or diamond plate rocker panel covers that stick w/ adhesive (not bolted or riveted on) to the actual rocker panel of an XJ and not just the lower door.
the only one i could find that goes on the rocker panel (and also goes on the lower door) is this one but it rivets on and i am looking for a kit that sticks with adhesive.

I fabed up mine and used Pan head Philips screws, I also used a sheet of toolbox tray liner that I picked up at Fred Myeres $1.00 ea, to keep the moisture out. Been five years with no prob. These pics are from when it was new.
This is what they look like today.

In my cutting area, the same way I cut the plate, I used the same clamping method for scoring the back of the bend.
I marked my bend lines on the back of the plate with a Sharpie and used a sheet of plywood as my cutting area. Use a factory cut edge of another piece of ply as a straight edge to run your grinder against to score the back of the bend. Use wood screws to clampdown your diamond plate. Score along the bend line with steady speed with the grinder, be careful not to cut to deep. Pre drill the holes and screw into place.
FASTENING THE DIAMOND PLATE:
I used pan head Philips screws to fasten my new diamond plate to my XJ. I also used a thin sheet of toolbox tray liner(woven thin sheet of foam rubber) as a gasket to keep the moisture out. You can pick them up at Fred Meyers for a buck a piece.
Just lay the liner on the back and if it’s the same liner that I bought it should stick to the new diamond plate like glue. If not you may want to get some spray on glue to secure it. Once you have it secured, then just trim with a razor blade.
