Default Cherokee V Belt

Ok, picked up this 91 Briarwood for my son, squeeling like a pig, took of v-belt checked pulleys, can't find anything.. looked to be fairly new Gates belt. Took to my mechanic for a look, he replaced with a new Gates belt, and squeek was gone. Drove it a few times and gradually came back, like a chirping sound.. Tightened the belt, figuring ok, maybe it stretched a little and just replaced the idler pulley, thinking maybe the shiny metal surface was causing the belt to glaze, but still chirps.. I have read some good things about the Goodyear Gatorback belts, but my mechanic says he doesn't like them. Has anyone here used them and has it helped if you have?

Also check for a coolant and oil leak from the front of a engine, if oil or coolant is leaking onto one of the pulleys and getting on the belt can cause this.

does it chirp/squeal all the time? or when you turn something on? Run it and let it squeal for a few minutes shut it off and see if any of the pulleys are hot if so witch ever one it is needs repair. Gator back belts suck I've had many problems with them at work. I use a Gates like what you have

Mostly at idel, makes no differemce if I turn on the AC.. the squeak was totally gone after the belt was initially replaced, but came back slowly. After tightening the belt it was not as bad, but enough to be really annoying.
