Hello,
I have a 99 Cherokee sport (2wd, 2.5, automatic) and it does not run. I've searched all over the internet and I guess I have the 30rh transmission. I can shift into park, drive, reverse, but when I push the gas it does not move and it feels like it does not engage. There is also a loud whining noise when it's in gear. If I floor it it will creep to about 1 mph. Towed it to the mechanic and he says that the tranny is bad which is what I feared. There is also air in the transmission fluid
What I'm looking for is can I use a 30rh (or any other transmission) from any other vehicle (wrangler, etc) on the cherokee or do I have to get one from the same year as mine. Also does this sound like a bad tranny to any of you guys.

I was also wondering what years 30rh I could use. Not sure if there are any differences between years. I think they were used from 94-2000.
