Default Cherokee stalled on me tonight

My Cherokee stalled on me tonight when I pulled up to my first stop sign. The oil light came on, and a burnt smell came from the engine.

I want to note that it had a rough initial startup, and it started rough after it stalled. Once the engine warmed up there were no issues.

wth?

Also could a loose serpentine belt have caused this?

No a loose serpentine belt would not have caused that.

Sounds like you have a fair amount of diagnostics to do. Do you have adequate oil and oil pressure?

It might be half a quart low. How would I check the oil pressure?

Since you appear to have the warning light, you'd have to unscrew the sender near the oil filter and temporarily screw in a mechanical pressure gauge. Normal for the oil light to come on if the motor stalls- the pump has stopped.
How old are the tune-up items? Plugs, cap, rotor, etc?

Plugs and everything are new. Has a new battery. I'm about to get it inspected. So I guess I should tell them to check the oil pressure. If it's low I guess the oil pump is going bad?

Or the engine is worn.
