My 96 Cherokee Sport won't start. When I crank the ignition, the engine turns over but instantly shuts down. If I give it a little gas during ignition, then engine will run ONLY if I keep my foot on the gas. Once I let up on the pedal, the engine shuts down again. Battery seems good.

i have the same problem.

 

I would start by checking the pressure on the fuel rail with a mechanical pressure gauge. Also make sure that you have a strong BLUE spark. No other color will be good enough. Check those out and let us know wheat you find and we can go from there.

 

I'm no mechanic but my jeep was doing something like that .I found if I turned the key back a little bit it would run . May not help ya . But it's worth a shot.

 

I remember mine did this when I took my throttle body off and cleaned it. I forgot to plug the IAC motor in and it would not stay running. I'd check that to see if the motor is still working
