I'm curious: do you pull the head with the manifolds still attached?

You want to shove wooden sticks into the engine to hold lifters.... but us reusing headbolts that we check to make sure in spec and if I flat edge a head and its within spec..... and we are taking shortcuts?

I would love to know what you would do when a lifter dislodges from a dowell and falls down either into the pan or worse gets stuck in the rotating assy.....

Didn't the OP ask if it can be done without removing the head? Which I have already proved with a thread showing step by directions on a 4.0 how to do it without removing the head? I also provided another article that showed the same thing being done on a cummins.

Ok. You think its been answered. Then I'm locking it.
Everyone can give opinions and we also have the right to argue with each other.

So here is a locked thread op you now have a choice. Choose your way. Let us know what way you go later and if you had an issue with either the stick idea or if you pulled the head.

Good luck.
