Aw **** he left. I gotta run myself...the resistor is not needed It's mainly to quiet the pump. You can bypass it. It seems checking your pressure would make sense since you said it seemed low. Pump ground is OK?
It will run in "open loop" without using a number of the sensors until it warms up, then go to "closed Loop" and use more of them. Idk, you might check, or even unplug one or both temp sensors, one on the manifold and one below the manifolds. (the one on the rear of the head is just for the gauge/light) Look over the wires that go down there. (chafing melting)
There's sensor testing in here> https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/he...ix-links-1397/

it is possible that someone jumped a wire from the positive on the battery to the positive wire for the ballast resistor somewhere.

i have tried evrything i can think of
rewired the broken wires to the fuel pump, new fuel filter, jumped the ballast resistor, new fuel pressure regulator, checked all injectors, i cant figure this out and its bugging me because i have to drive it on monday!

about how sure are you that its one of these 2 things because i realy have to have it running this weekend and i dont want to drop 100 bucks on a fuel pump, and which line are you talking about. are you talking about the line that goes from the pump to the filter, the line that goes from the filter to the steel line on the unibody, the steel line itself, or the line from the steel line to the fuel rail? if its a cheap fix that would be great

ahh okie dokie then, ill drop my tank tonight and check out the condition of the pump and that line. i really hope its a cheap fix. if i cant find a problem ill tank my jeep to my high school autoshop on sunday and hook up a fuel pressure gauge. if its low ill just bite the bullet and buy new lines and a pump. im going to do the noen injector swap anyways so ill do that while im at it next week.

You don't need to drop the tank. I've always done it with about 1/4 tank of fuel, Idk, 1/2 might be OK. No sparks! I think I used a piece of Oak last time, to turn the ring.
I'd rent a gauge first though......

Renix Jeep C101 Connector Refreshing
The C101 connector on 1987 and 1988 Renix Jeeps was a source of electrical resistance when the vehicles were new. So much so that the factory eliminated this connector in the 1989 and 1990 models. The factory recommended cleaning this connector to insure the proper voltage and ground signals between the ECU and the fuel injection sensors. We can only imagine how this connector has become a larger source of voltage loss and increased resistance over a period of almost 25 years. The C101 connector needs to be cleaned at least once in the lifetime of your vehicle. Chances are it’s never been done before.
Almost every critical signal between the engine sensors, injectors, and the ECU travel the path through the C101.
The C101 is located on the driver’s side firewall above and behind the brake booster. It is held together with a single bolt in it’s center. To get the connectors apart, simply remove the bolt and pull the halves apart. You will find the connector is packed with a black tar like substance which has hardened over time.
Take a pocket screwdriver or the like and scrape out all the tar crap you can. Follow up by spraying out both connector halves with brake cleaner and then swabbing out the remainder of the tar. Repeat this procedure until the tar is totally removed. This may require 3 or more repetitions. Wipe out the connectors after spraying with a soft cloth.
If you have a small pick or dental tool tweak the female connectors on the one side so they grab the pins on the opposite side a bit tighter. Apply a true dielectric grease, not the stuff that came with your brake pads, to the connection and bolt it back together.

Thanks to everyone who helped me today, ill let you know how everything went tomorrow.

well thats really strange, i dont seem to have a c101 connector but i have an 88 4.0...... hmm i seem to have the mount for it but no connector, i had a ungo alarm vallet switch mounted on that mount when i got it but i just got rid of that alarm, my brothers 88 4.0 5 speed doesnt have it either. mine is a pioneer and his is a laredo, do these packages not have the c101 connector or what? is there another spot for that connector besides above the brake booster?

my mistake, my bro does have it but some one loves me, i took at closer look, removed some electrical tape and sheathing and found out that someone got rid of the c101 in my jeep and cut all the wires and butt connected them together. im going to cut, solder, and heat shink them all tomorrow.
