Default Changing the windshield washer fluid pump? Really?

My washer fluid pump recent ceased working completely.
I knew it was going last winter when it wouldn't work when especially cold, but I put off changing it. The rear one hasn't sprayed in forever. Now, the front one just whines and maybe sprays a little, but not enough to reach the windshield.

My question would be, is the only way to change the pumps to take the wheel off and access it through the wheel well? That just seems retarded. Can it be done at all from above?

Yes. It has to be accessed in the wheel well.

It's between the fender and the inner fender. You can remove the entire fender but that seems a bit out of the way.

Pulling the wheel off takes all of 5 minutes.

If you're concerned with pulling the wheel off then you should probably have someone else do the whole job anyways.

It's time you learned to change your own tire.

Oh... I can change my own damn tire lmao, I'm just lazy and six and a half months pregnant.

Just because I'm a chick doesn't mean i can't change a tire! Hell ,i can do that and a whole lot more. I just think it's kind of retarded to have to take the tire off to change that part, but oh well.

Every other vehicle I've owned, you just popped it out of the tank and popped the new one in.

Buy a different year xj. ;-) They have put the washer fluid bottle in at least 4 different locations that I know of over the years. My '86 is super easy to get to, it's where the battery is, but on the other side.

He's an OTR trucker... Sometimes, i have to do crap like this myself.

Anyway, he'll be home tomorrow... I'll have him do it then. I can wait a day if it means not having to mess with it myself right now.

That's nothing. To replace a relay for the blower motor for AC/heat i had to remove the entire dash to access the relay....so be thankful its only a tire lol
