Exclamation changing u joint have problem

i have a bad u joint on the front right axle shaft of my dana 30. i got the axle shaft out but i cant get the u foint out. i tried the hammer socket method and it wont come out. i couldnt see any c clips, and not sure exactly where they would be. there is a decent layer of rust on it.
any help is appreciated

Good size socket and BFH did mine everytime I need them. BUT I got the brute force gold non-grease ujoints with lifetime warranties and haven't had to replace them in 2 years now. Gotta love lifetime warranty stuff.

The ujoint itsn't supposed to be flush with the shaft case. It sets in some so the c-clip goes in the slit and holds it in place. Just looking at the second pic and it looks like you just need to put the c-clip in and it should be good.
