Personally, i would do it just for piece of mind. That's what i did with almost every fluid when i bought my Jeep.

its better to just change all the fluids so you know that it was done. peace of mind is better than wonderingif you should. for the cost of fluids and filters i just change everything.

I agree did just that when I bought my 48K mile Jeep just to be sure, rear axle oil black front axle clean never been used!!

Things ar emore likely to go worng if you don't stick to the servicing intervals all for the sake of $50 of oil!(all oils being changed)

The reason I change diff fluids in all my new jeeps is the stock vent location isn't high enuf. A stock jeep is capable enuf and can water in the vent when it gets stuck. So I change the fluid and raise the vent inside the cargo area. Then I never change it agean. Probably should though.

Every 15K for diffs and transfer case, or after submerging in water.
30K for transmission, power steering, coolant.

That's why I run my vents up so many changes of fluid add up. Its quick and eazy. But I should change it seasonally and that's good advice since changing weather can cause moisture.

What you need is a razor, some liquid gasket. I beleive either a 8, 10, or 12 mm a screw driver (preferably a wood chissle.) The chissle is to break the prevous seal by slowly prying. take it easy as to not bend the diff cover. Use the razor to scrape clean the mating surfaces for new seal. clean it with paper towel. I dont know your proper oil, but mine was like 100-120. got it at the local auto store.

I also take brake cleaner and flush out the housing. Be shure to check for shavings and ab normal wear. I also use a wire wheel on a drill to prep for the seal. But a razor works just takes longer.

I'm doing the same thing with my new-to-me cherokee. I did find a felpro gasket for $5 or so for the rear, rtv only for the front dif. After searching this forum and jeepforum.com, I decided on the Royal Purple gear lube. So far, no leaks, no noise.

Depends on how often you submerge the axles.
