Mine is in the side of the tank facing the front of the keep...So you might be able to get away without dropping the tank but more then likely will need to drop the tank..I need to replace my tank so I am just going to buy a new tank, sending unit and pump. Assemble it then drop the tank and put the new on in..

Yes it's in the tank, but on the side toward the top, I didn't need to drop mine when I took mine out.

No, you don't have to drop the tank. The fuel pump and sending unit load into the tank through the front, right above the rear axle. You may have to jack the rear of the vehicle up (not on the axle) to allow enough room to clear the axle. Cherokees have one of the easiest in-tank fuel pumps there is to change.

It has a locking ring with tabs you first have to flatten, then you turn the ring by striking it with a hammer and chisel until it clears the locks on the tank.

When you do it please make a writeup for CF. Many people ask about this.

It may make it easier to back your jeep up on a set of ramps. so you can sit up a liitle to get the ring off.

Sure thing. I will Make a write up for it. I live and work right near Chickasaw but I wasnt towing a trailer or anything. My jeep has a lift so its easy to crawl under and work.

Use a brass punch or drift because you do not want any sparks.
