Chime in with a question.

Anyone had luck getting the float for the fuel gauge in the tank past the baffles without bending it?? I did the fuel pump install 3 times trying to get the float set right and finally gave up. 1/4 was EMPTY and that was the best I could get it to do.

Thumbs up

Not on the fuel pump topic, but I live right off of Chikisaw. Where exactly are you? Love to meet up and wheel someday.

first thing you do is make sure you have LESS than a half tank of gas, then do the following:
1. remove the power connector located near the fuel filter
2. remove the fuel lines connected to the pump ( be carefull because you might get gas on you if there is still a little pressure or fuel still in the line and filter)
3. using a BRASS rod and hammer, tap the locking ring CCW untill it is lose.( use Brass because you don't want to make a spark)
4. remove the pump assembly, it is long and not straight, so you will have to wiggle and twist it untill it clears the hole.( becarefull not to knock off the filter on the bottom of the pump)
5. normally you can just change the pump it self located on the assembly, but it is a good idea to change the filter on the bottom and check all wires and connections.
6. reassemble the same way you removed it.
make sure to use a NEW "O" rong between the pump and the tank housing, and use vaseline to lub the locking ring, it makes it easier to tighten.
once you have the pump installed and sitting flat up against the "O"Ring, slide the locking ring over the harness and push it in and turn it CW to engage the lips on the tank, and using the BRASS rod and hammer, tap the locking ring FULLY CW untill it stops.
7. re-connect the lines and harness and make sure to tie up the lose wires with Tie Straps so they are not flopping around.
8. enjoy your jeep.

Hope this helps.
