I'm looking to get a new set of wheels to put my 235 75 r15's on when I take the snow tires off after winter (2WD, so I need the snows). I read the stock wheels for 95 XJ is 15x6. I ran across some pretty nice pre-93 15x7 steel rims for pretty good $. Will these fit and / or would I need any modifications or have any rubbing issues etc?
FWIW - I have the "sawblade" rims currently (maybe those are 15x7 anyhow?).

Those tires will fit rims from 6-8 inches wide, so yes they will work. As for the size of your current wheels I am not familiar with what you are describing. Have any pics?

If the 15x7 have proper backspacing they will be fine. The tire size will need to be considered too.
For reference, my XJ is at stock height now and I have 16x7 rims with 265/70r16s and they rub only at full steering lock. The O.D. of my inflated tires is 31". I will be lifting it soon though...

I am very surprised that big 16s only rub at full steering lock on a stock Jeep XJ. That they don't tear off the flares and get cut up by the fenders.
I didn't think that was possible.

On flats there have been no issues. They are the tires that were on it when I bought the Jeep and I don't know if the PO did anything off-road with it either, though he did live somewhat in the sticks.
Mind you, the leaf springs in back are sagging to flat right now too, so it is a bit lower than stock. I am gonna do a bastard pack and maybe front coil spacers or new springs before I take it off road...and I will likely get different tires too. Maybe the same size...
Not to sidetrack this thread, Salinity should have no issues with the 235/70/16s if his XJ is stock height, though he may consider lifting if he plans do crawling on big rocks... On the street there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Thanks for the info. There will be no crawling on big rocks with this Jeep (2WD). I'm more concerned with figuring out if the rim swap will cause issues than which tires to run at this point.
