The install went well except for one ground that wasn't making contact at first. I discovered the problem by how dim the drivers side light was compared to the passenger side. Fixed the ground and both lights work great, hi and low beams, but the check engine light came on.

This jeep does not have fog lights. This is the harness:

Anyway way to reset the CEL? Thanks for any help!

CEL is still on after disconnecting the harness and reconnecting the OEM harness. I also tried to read the code by turning on the key and holding down the trip reset button. The odometer goes through the 1s through 9s but then goes back to mileage.

Left the battery disconnected for 30 minutes, after reconnecting the CEL stayed off for a second or two then came back on. Everything seems to be normal except for the CEL being on. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Gotta get that code read. Not much to do until then.

Pretty much a coincidence. I'm moving this to OEM Tech.

Update: Decided to get a code scanner and it should arrive in a couple of days. When it does I will post the results.

Cruiser54, Since I haven't quite learned how posts are arranged yet I'm wondering if another of my posts should be moved?

I moved it to Mod Tech.
Thanks for your concern.
As for the first one about the CEL, no big deal. That subforum has caused some confusion since it's inception, so I monitor it every day.

The code scanner arrived today and promptly read P1492, which is the ambient battery sensor code. Retightening the connector cleared the code...Yay👍

The scanner is now an honored member of my onboard tool kit!
