Will the cat off a 96 fit on an 01 cherokee?

Any idea what the stock sizes are? I haven't picked up my new jeep yet to check and the guy doesnt know what size his 96 is.

It should but you gotta remember our 01s are a dual cat and not sure yours but my 01 limited has 2 o2s above and below the cat.

I have no idea. I'm picking up another 01 sport when I get my insurance check since someone totalled mine. Don't know if that has a dual cat. I'm still new to all this. lol

Don't think it will without some mods......I believe the '01 cat is flanged/bolts to the exhaust pipe where as the '96 is a slip fit/clamped to the exhaust pipe.

The '01 has a 2.25 pipe and the cat is welded to the exhaust pipe from the engine and then there are bolts for the muffler.

Ok. So would i have to reweld the new one on or clamp it? The jeep im buying doesnt have one on it and im pretty sure pa requires one.

mines wasnt welded it came off the exhaust manifold with a flange and bolts 2 bolts each pipe and then down to a single tube downstream. No welding required. If you go with many aftermarket ones, not all, welding is required.
