try Napa, Autozone, Kragen, Pepboys, Midus or any muffler or parts shop in the country. If the inlet and outlet are the correct size it should work fine.

I feel your pain.. If you want to go completely legal and by the letter of the law you need to find a Cat that matches your Engine Group Number (EFN).. The EFN can be found on the Catalyst sticker in your engine compartment. If you go to a muffler shop they should do all the leg work for you. (keep in mind this doesn't mean they will do it right either) But if you want to do it yourself here's the link to the CA Air Resources board web site where you find a list of CARB approved aftermarket CAT's for your year XJ.. again make sure you get the CAT that matches the EFN listed on the CARB web site. The EFN MUST match the EO number stamped on the new Cat otherwise the SMOG inspector is supposed to Flunk you... (this all depends on the inspector).. but if they are going by the letter of the law they are supposed to flunk you if the numbers don't match. ... I've been pulling my hair out and did a bunch of research on this because I"m trying to save a buck and replace my CAT and exhaust system myself... THANKS CALIFORNIA!!! What a PITA!!

yeah if you go to an auto parts store just tell em what vehicle its for they should have a universal that will fit unless there just stupid and grab the wrong one but yeah it has to have the right numbers or it will fail visual inspection and the worst part is its illegal for a muffler shop to install a used cat in ca so finding a used one isnt an option unless you have a buddy that can weld it in .

i thought for some reason you didnt have to smog in lake county hmmm guess i was wrong
