You slip the seatbelt straps into this clip and it LOCKS the belts down. Not allowing them to retract or loosen for any reason at all.
I used them to secure the baby seats for my five children.. and they are all still alive.
Also.. when you put the seat on.. kneel on the base... put your body weight onto it. Sinking it deep into the seat, before you click the seatbelt. This will ensure a solid, tight, immovable baby seat base.
Also Also.. watch your babies head on the rare occasion you take her out of her seat while its still in the car. I can't TELL you how many times I bonked my first daughters head against backs of seats, door jambs.. etc, while extracting her from the vehicle. heh.. I learned..and didn't repeat that embarrassment with my other children.
The head bonking struggles are real...
And don't just stop at the kid... Every now and then getting all jumpy into my jeep I do it too!!! But yes, when putting my 4 yo in jeep, I just always watch the top of her head... gotta kinda hoist her in there at an angle lol.
I never had anything to secure the child seat other than rear passenger seat belt. Not saying that is the best option... but be careful using any other devices if they are not mega rated... things can snap under pressure.
Also in regular cars, do not ever rely strictly on the anchor points of a car. The seatbelts are rated and tested for a lot more weight than those anchors/ clips on the anchors.
What? Me and my brothers weren't even using a car seat when we where 2 LOL.
Yeah back in the day you just flew around the car if something happened. lol. I was usually all the way in the back so if they ever hit anything I'd have to fly over 2 rows of seats before I would make it to the front seat. lol.
God was always watching out that, that didn't happen.
Alright, did a 5 min test fit. Not good haha. Dont have one of those metal clips, first of all. 2nd, it doesn't sit at the correct angle, even with the extension all the way up. 3rd, if I tighten the belt too much, it starts to lift one side of the car seat.

My wife's more modern car is simple with the "latch" system. Simply click the little things in, and pull with all ya got. DONE.
In my XJ (pictured above) I put the car seat on the back seat, put the seatbelt through, clicked into the female end, and then drove my knee into the car seat with as much force as I could. I then pulled the belt as tight as i could, while keeping all the force downward, and then at the same time put that metal clip in place.
I'd be lying if I said some choice words didn't go flying, and if i wasn't sweating my @$$ off while doing it. I even cranked her up, and had the A/C on. But now the seat is locked down, and doesnt' seem to be going anywhere.
Nice latch system upgrade! It definitely would have made the rear facing car seat a bit easier in and out of my '00 XJ. That said, it's pretty tight in the back seat and depending on the rear facing seat, you are limited bunch then with front seat legroom (having to move the seat in front of the child seat forward).
