cant find 4wd indicator light switch

Default cant find 4wd indicator light switch

crawled up under the jeep last week, could not find the light indicator switch in the transfer case

the only plug i see is a 4 prong plug, but what im seeing its a 2 prong plug

i just cant find it, maybe im looking in the wrong place? (drivers side, top?)


the only plug i can see looking up there is a bigger plug, with 4 prongs


whats going on???????

The switch for a NP242J will have four (4) pins, the switch for a NP231J will have two (2) pins. What Transfer Case do you have?

but why when i go to napa they keep ordering the 2 prong switch?

where do i get a new one?

yep thats the one i pulled out and took to napa to get


is it a stealership only part?

No, but I had a very hard time finding an aftermarket switch because of the descriptions used for the switch and no cross references to the OEM part number. I ended up getting one from the dealer. Chrysler calls it a Mode Switch.

Here's a website that will give you an idea what the retail price will be at the dealer. Compare it to NAPA's price. Dealers usually give senior citizen discounts so if you know an old timer (like me) see if they will buy it for you. 10% off.

Out of curiosity, how come you need to replace this? I ask as my full time dash light has never worked and i'm wondering if this is a likely culprit.

its your switch more than likely or a bulb...my light stays on

so i got to replace the switch
