I was changing the freeze plugs in my 95 cherokee, so I dropped the transmission to get to the two inside the bell housing. I went to put the tranny back in and had trouble because it is so damn heavy. I used a few jacks and was having a heck of a time...while reformulating my plan of attack, I looked under the axle near the driver's side front tire, and it was just sitting on the ground. I have no idea where it came from. There is a bearing on one side of the piece in the middle...the side opposite the bearing looks like it may have broken off from something or it was machined by an irate employee that had no feks left to give. I am sure it's important because it has a bearing, but I'm clueless as to where it came from. For all I know, it might as well be alien spacecraft debris from outer space. Thanks, y'all!

It is a clutch lever and throwout bearing. If you've got a manual, you're going back inside. If you've got an auto, then you might consider calling up the automotive X-Files to check into this.

That's what allows your clutch to disengage thus allowing you to shift when you press in the clutch on a standard vehicle.

That needs to be inside your transmission or else you're not shifting when the jeep is running.

That blows dude.
