Default can someone do me a favor?

Can someone with a 2000-2001 xj with california emmissions (pre-cats in manifold) check the direction of air flow with the electric fan? Mine and another members were blowing out through the radiator instead of sucking air in through the radiator like the mechanical fan. Im checking to see if this might be the way the factory did this for these models purposely, or if its just a weird error by the factory or fan manufacturers.

I'm quite sure it should be blowing rearward. (you don't want it fighting the normal flow, air would not even move at the right speed!)

Reversing it's two wires should take care of it.

Yes, I took care of it already. Im just interested in seeing if its "normal" for those years or if mine and another members were just a fluke.

Waz just thinking. If a guy had real trouble with vapor lock, reversing those wires might help get past a heat wave....

Thats what I was thinking. It might clear out some of the hot air under the hood when not moving. Maybe the factory thought so too. Maybe thats why the fan was redesigned for the 2000 model year Perhaps its a factory "fix" for the problem? Thats why Im polling other members to see if theirs is the same.

Wait, wasn't there just thread on this. The aux pan pulls air in at a higher CFM rate to bring those temps down. If you want air to get blown out from under the hood you can either install hood vents or raise the rear of the hood.

Yes there was the other thread where I and another member discovered that their e-fan was pushing air out instead of pulling it in. This thread is to poll other 00-01 owners as to what their e-fan is doing.

I'm quite sure it should be blowing rearward. (you don't want it fighting the normal flow). If someone hacked it for whatever reason, (or some Chinese kid didn't get his Wheaties and built it wrong), get/leave it right...

The auxiliary electric fan pulls air inwards on my 2001. It's the same fan and wiring as my 1999.

Why is this even a question? You know the vehicle's cooling system is set up for forward movement, right? The aux fan also cools the power steering and exhaust manifold.

It is a question because both me and another member found that our fans were blowing outward. Did you actually check your 2001 or are you just assuming it is working how you think it should? If it was just me I would chalk it up to strange paranormal jeep activity but since another member had the same thing going on I figured it might be more widespread.

I didn't go out and check it right now, it doesn't run anymore and it's dark out. lol

Yes, it actually really does pull air inwards.

Some people are wiring this crap up backwards...

My 01 really does blow air towards the engine when it eventually runs. You can put your hand over the grill and feel it. Yours is wired wrong somehow.

It's a conspiracy! The combination of the backwards electric fan and 0331 head leads to disaster which leads to more money in repairs for the dealerships! Lol

Sometimes it can seem that way.

If you want to know if yours is wired backwards or not look at the blades while it is stopped. If its supposed to pull in the blades will have a curve with the inside towards the direction of travel going outwards. And a curve across the blade in the direction of travel. I can get a picture tomorrow to explain it better.
