Default Electric window switch problem

On my '00 XJ it has electric windows. The driver's door controls will operate all our windows without issue. however, none of the other door controls work at all. The lockout button is off, and I've turned it on and back off to see if it was somehow backwards, but still nothing. Any thoughts on what would be causing this?

You have met the typical problem where the lock button failed. If you replace the drivers door control it should make the rest work.

Probably but I've never looked into it. A new switch assembly was like 60 if I remember correctly so it got replaced.

Yes I just did my 99 and 00

Do not cut the yellow wire as shown just open the connector more

**Window lock button becomes inop**

Here's the harder right way...

So if I understand the first video correctly he's just splicing the yellow and tan wires together but keeping them in the existing circuits?

Yes. Splicing together acts like the switch is closed and allows the passenger windows to be operated from the passenger doors.

I just fixed this issue about a week ago using video number 2, or the "harder" way. I have absolutely no experience with electronics, wiring, or soldering, but by going slow and being patient, all issues are now cleared up.

You can get it for way cheaper than that... just got get one from your local Pick 'N' Pull. They won't charge much for it.

A couple months ago there was one listed on Amazon for $32 (rounded up the cents) Now with a quick search I'm getting the cheapest at $42 (again rounded up the cents)

I was going to say that since I've had 4 XJ's that were all bad.

You buy a bad one at a junk yard I don't think they will give your money back

Plus the way I fixed it was 25 cents and about 8 minutes
