you gotta do some serious cage reinforcement or it will fold like a taco

X2 Reinforcement is going to be highly recommended anytime you chop your XJ.

"fold like a taco"

why do we hear this so much? i think it's been said to death.

your xj's body will have some flex if you go about removing the top or some of it. It would be wise to do a cage like blackburn suggested.

Reinforce it with a cage, move the top part of the hatch up to the B-frame, and it should be solid once again. I've thought about this before, but MANY years down the road. I'd like to chop it, cage it, and get a 4-door JK-style soft top. Would take a lot of work, but would be unique.

I think the taco refers to the fact that XJ's crack when they flex and twist, just look at the upper corners of the body where the hatch meets the roof of any XJ that has been wheeled alot.

Wait til you roll it a few times and then the top will need removing entirely.
