Alright so this thing was on my stock bumper and when we put my new one on we broke the line that lead to whatever this is. We plugged the line where it broke off and the jeep runs fine, but does anyone know what it is and what it does? Anyhelp would be great!

Flux capacitor, it's fairly necessary to the Jeeps proper running. I'd hook it back up before something is damaged.

Yeah...what he said lol. It's also for cruise control as well as the front disconnect axle in older XJs.

My a/c and heat work great, we plugged up the hole in the line would that allow everything to work right?

You are fine running it plugged. That is your vacuum ball that attaches behind the bumper, and the vacuum line is broken that connects it to the rest of the system. Keep it plugged so the engine can keep the vacuum needed to operate your hvac system and cruise. I have run with mine plugged for years now with no issues.

Engine: 4.0 stroked to 4.6, Thanks to Teasdale'sMachine!

If not running cruise control, look around at the JY for a vacuum ball off an older escort. They're about 3" long and about 1.5" wide, shaped like a blimp. Fits well on inner fender wall and provides enough stand by vacuum when you give it throttle to keep HVAC running proper. That's all it's for.
