Default Temp Gauge...on the overhead cluster

Hey all,

First time Jeep owner here, long time Dodge 1500 owner. Loving the 4x4 life!

The outside temp was definately in the single digits..but my overhead cluister wants to tell me its a warm 32 degrees?

Where can I find and replace the unit that read the temperature outside.

Also, I just got a remanned' 4.0L in it, and the mechanic said that it has tighter tolerances and needs to be broken in and that is why I am getting around 10MPG (mostly 2wd..not all)? Does this sound about right?

Here she is.. picked her up off a buddy who blew a piston side skirt and wanted to junk it for 300$. 198000 on the body.

So far it has a completely re-manufactured 4.0L bored just .020 over.
New T-Case
New Torq Conv

Needs new rear shocks and front stabilizer bar/bushings, other than that she drives like a dream!

I'll have to put my night vision goggles on to view that pic. ;-)

Check the OAT probe under the front bumper. It might be crudded up, or its connector is loose or corroded. If the person who changed the engine pulled the grill, header and radiator to do the job he may have dicked up the probe installation.

That kinda works out because the temp sensor is behind the bumper. Might check it for damage.
