Default cam position sensor

Has anyone replaced their cam position sensor? Can it be replaced on all non-COP trucks?

cop= Coil On Plug its a distributer-less system. and yes it can be changed. it is the black base under the cap. you should be able to see a 3 pronged plug coming out of it

you mean a xj with a dist, a normal xj yes. you can pull the dist nock the pin out of the dist gear pull the gear off note which way it was on, there may be a spacer/washer under the gear. then pull the shaft out of the dist replace the coil and re assemble if the shaft is hard to pull out spray some carb cleaner down the shaft to loosen the burnt/dried oil

Gotcha.

I "moved" here from a DSM forum and I've always known it as a COP setup.

In the Non cop XJs the distibiutor is basically the housing for the Cam Positsion sensor and the Cap and rotor, As the distribotor has nothing really to do with ignition timing.
