Default A/C ?

ok so i bought my 01 about a year ago and when i bought it (used) the guy told me everything workd in it. Well it was cool out the night i test drove it but i tried AC to make sure it wrkd. It blew out cold air so i figured it wrkd. Come june time when i needed the air it wld be cool for a min or so then blow temp of air outside. The pump wld kick on n off. I filled pump n it wld wrk for a day or 2. Then i took it to a shop n they drained everything out, refilled it, n fixd the TINY leak i had at the low pressure port. It wrkd for bout 5 days and since then it wont wrk at all. does ne1 out there have ne suggestions? im goin out of my mind trying to fix it without buyin a new compressor. thanx a bunch

You have a leak if you are loosing refrigerant. I would take it back to the shop that had fixed your small leak since they didn't fix it right.

yep, its a leaker, they most likely added die in the system, have them check for leaks again. probably leaking from the evaporator behind the dash, that cannot be seen without removing dash, but a sniffer can detect a leak if they have one. it is common for them to go bad on all vehicles.

an evaporator in an xj is around 800 -1000 bux installed

when I bought my XJ the A'c didnt work either, so instead of fixing it, I just turn my A/C compressor into a Air compressor[common mod to do] so I can run air tools, air up my tires, etc. Its not my DD tho, so A/c isnt that big of a deal,...

Well known that Chrysler used Crappy hoses and seals on Jeeps for many years. I have never heard of anyone sucessfully fixing the A/C short of replacing EVERYTHING to the tune of $2000 or so. That's a good bit more than I paid for My Cherokee.

let me know what you find out fox. I know a good AC shop down here that is top notch.

My XJ will have AC come warm weather. I will retrofit a reliable system out of a different brand of car if I have to, and you can bet I won't be spending much on it.

Since you took it to a shop and paid your hard earned money for a service. Take it back and make them fix it right.
