Well...totaled the XJ yesterday.....picked a fight with a lifted Bronco and lost:
Here's the aftermath:

Even though i'm parting it out, i'm sure going to miss her....she was my first vehicle....bought it when I was 16 and been working on paying it off ever since. Had a lot of good memories in her

That sucks. Atleast you are okay though! Now maybe you can buy something and pay it off right away. Then you could mod it quicker! Good luck!

Come along and a little rubbing compound and you will be good to go again. All that is repairable. What does the insurance have to say?
Did you watch the Trucks Episode where they pulled out the crimpled frame on an XJ and made a decent looking Jeep out of it (color suxs but the body work looked good) You can do the same.

Yeah it's a total. Got an estimate from insurance for $3300 in damage this morning, and that was before I was able to get the hood open and inspect engine damage, as well as notice the back of the back seat is twisted from my hi-lift and spare tire sliding forward. It was with in $600 of being totaled before the additional damage was noted. When I called him back to tell him about the seat he said we'll probably go ahead and total it then.

That is an excellent idea. I bought my totalled BMW back for $100 about 15-18 years ago. Drove it about 5 more years after a little porta power work and a fender replacement.

Yeah I would be parting that out to keep all the good stuff...then turn it over to insurance.
Keep all the good parts....Get the skid plates etc.
That really sucks about wrecking it.
I had some jackass shoot out the windows in my XJ while it was on the trailer. Insurance tried to total it but I had it appraised for its value of the parts. Then insurance had to fix the windows. Damage on mine was $2200.
The bonus...I got all new factory tinted windows...New rear window which fixed the rear defroster. New seals to replace the dry rotted ones. And the shop fixed my one power window motor that was blown.
I made out in the deal big time in my opinion. But thats very rare.
Hope you get a new jeep soon. No need to store all those parts

The adjuster and I talked about this when he did the estimate this morning, incase it came down to this.
From what he told me, they'd give me $5100 for it, which is right at KBB value. If I wanted to buy it back, it would be $1000 (but I can and probably will hagle with them on that) to buy it back. Figure another $800 to pay off the loan I still have on it, and i'm down to $3300....which still isn't a bad start on getting another.
Now just to find one with all the stuff I want on it.....really really really want a limited but they're a little harder to find than I expected.
