Default to buy or not to buy? need opinions

hey guys, i found this 92 xj on craigslist today. its awful tempting from the ad, but i have yet to see it in person. just wondered what others thought of it before i start thinking seriously about it. i'm interested in it simply for all the parts i could put on my 91 xj, but if its an easy fix may just keep it and clean it up. so let me know what you guys think! all opinions are appreciated. also, anyone have a guess as to what the problem with it running might be, based on the seller's description? thanks in advance

IMO, I think its a great deal...If its all in good shape (little rust, 4wd works, etc). I sold and 89 4.0 with the same problem and it was just the fuel pressure regulator. That could obviously be a different issue but for $1000 with a nice lift and tires it seems like a deal.

Are you looking for a Road-rig or a Trail-rig or strictly a Parts-rig?

92 Laredo w35's.
I believe its a Laredo b/c said basically its fully-loaded and there was the thermometer and the chromed grill and roof rack.

As far as the stalling problem. Could be just about anything in the sensor-field.
Someone else care to chime in here?

Ask the seller for more/better pics...ON THE FLAT. Sitting on the little incline in the driveway makes it look more like a mall-rig w/ suspension issues.

i'd say the lift and tires are worth that.

Look like a great deal for a 1000 bucks, He has no sway bars but yet the poser pick looked horrible like he had them... He has stiff springs I guess on the lift.

thanks for the replys! i was suspicious of the incline pic myself, but like was said, seems like it would be worth it for the lift and wheels alone...i don't really need another xj, i'm interested in it for the parts i need for my current rig (steel bumpers, interior seats, misc. pieces), but if its nice enough and an easy fix i might swap out the parts i want and resell it. or keep that and sell my current xj. or keep it for a strictly trail rig and keep my other xj a daily driver, lol...it seems like a pretty sweet deal either way, i'll keep you guys posted when i hear back from the seller. here's a pic of my current rig, i bet those wheels and tires would look killer on it!

Well I hope it works out for ya. Did look like a nice rig just NO flex and doesn't run.

If you get the second XJ post up the symptoms as you see them and we will help you figure it out. Sounds like a good deal.

thanks for the input guys. i'm pretty skeptical at this point. it seems like a good deal but the pics don't tell much so i'll wait to see it in person before i think about buying it seriously. if the interior is nice i will probably do it but we will see. i am not actively looking to buy something like this so it will have to be in nice shape for me to consider diverting funds...basically if it looks like i can save a couple grand on mods for my xj by stripping this one i'll do it. i'll shoot some pics when i look at it and post them up for everyone to check out. thanks!
