Did you get oil on your exhaust manifold? And im not sure about older cherokee's but for mine its 5 1/2 quarts max. Also if its smoking from there you might have a bad valve seal and intake manifold leak but its highly unlikely. Do you hear a puffing noise in the engine compartment when the engine is running?

Its smoking right out of the top of the exhaust pipe where it meets the engine and also at the flange that connects the header to to the rest of the pipe????? It didnt do this before that I noticed I just bought it not to long ago and have been working in it to drive.

6 quarts is correct. Even if it was "slightly" overfilled, it wouldn't result in what you are seeing.
See if this is just a temporary condition and burns off. I think it might, as what you did should not be related to this.

So If I were you Id just weld up the crack in the flange and get a new gasket for your exhaust manifold. While your at it it probably wouldnt hurt to do an Intake manifold gasket as well since you have to take the intake off to get to the exhaust.

Blue smoke means oil so you have either worn valve seals or pistion rings. How much does it smoke? And check to see if you oil level went down any, If its a small amount or barely noticable then its most likely valve seals. If you lost a noticable amount like half a quart then Id go for pistion rings.
