bummer: my rear end is broke.!
sorry I couldn't get any pics but we think it is the spider gears that were bad and they bit a tooth off or something another along those lines, but had very violent shaking in left and right turns. The axle acted like it was getting hung up while doing those type of turns. So........dropped it off at my mechanic and he is searching for a D44. If we get lucky and find one I'll be happy. Anywho...how many have really had this D35 brake? seriously?

i have never actually had internal problems with the D35. even with 14" wide tires..
but your best bet would be a 8.25 or 8.8 as the D44 is becoming really hard/expensive to find.

The late model C8.25s are pretty strong and a direct bolt in just like the D44. They are easier to find because they a currently more plentiful.

No good man. You're replacing your weakest link with another weakest link. My buddy went 35's and broke his d35 on our first outing. The trip I saw a lady come down off a ledge with tires spinning and snap both axles on her D35 at once I swore I'd never own anything with a D35. I've been running an 8.25 with a Full Detroit on 35's and I beat it to Death, never broken anything in the rear. Been through a ring and pinion and two lockers in the front. I would have held out for an 8.25. But at the same time it is nice to have the Jeep back on the road. I know that feeling. Keep your eyes out for a cheap 8.25.
