Just a little fyi, I just installed coil springs out of a 1996 Grand Cherokee 4x4 with the 5.2 V8 on my 1996 XJ 4 door, 5 speed and most importantly 2.5 I4 2WD(complete base model truck)and it gave me 2.5" in the front. Right before that I installed a pair of Skyjacker 3" springs I got from the same yard from a 4.0XJ and it gave me 4" So I guess us 4 banger guys can expect an extra inch in lift from advertised lift considering you don't have any added weight up front(winch, steel bumpers, etc)

The Skyjacker springs were used, got them out of my dad's junkyard off a 1998 4.0 XJ. I'm measuring from the center of the hub to the bottom edge of the fender flare. I measured before I did the lift and I got the stock height of 17.5" and with the 3" Skyjackers I got 21.5" using the same measurement method. With the ZJ springs they were used with 138k miles on the truck. My XJ is a base model: 2WD 2.5 I4(gas) AX5, manual locks/windows, so its pretty light...the title says 2900lbs. I was pleasantly surprised at how much lift I got with the ZJ springs and now I have an excuse to lift the rear even more.
Plus my Jeep has 75k original miles so its all still pretty lightly used. Zero sag all the way around. The ZJ was also NOT an upcountry package for those wondering. It actually rides better than i was expecting considering i still have stock shocks for now
I was expecting it to be as stiff as a board considering the heavy spring rate, but its kind of nice...definitely firmer, but nothing to extreme
It feels more planted going around corners.
EDIT:
After driving for a couple days I remeasured and got 19.5" from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender flare which now shows that the V8 ZJ springs gave me 2".

I attempted to install 1993 T-Bird Coils. Here is my link:

Also 1997 Dodge Dakota rear shocks fit and are longer than stock shocks. I will post pics in the next couple of day. They would be good for a XJ.

1995 ford f150 rear shocks work for up to 5" of lift. i have them in the rear of my jeep and theyre great. their fully extended length is 26". i have about 10" of travel with them. you can get them at napa for 30 bucks each. these f150s had two sets of shocks so be sure to get the longer ones. autozone also sells a set of shackles that are lowering shackles for pickup trucks but they will give your xj up to 2" of lift in the rear. i had them installed on my last jeep and they were beefy and took a beating. you can find them in the section with all the towing stuff near the lift blocks. (do not buy lift blocks, your xj will blow up if you do)

My landlord is willin to sell me a pretty nice and solid brush uard for my XJ. its off an old Isuzu. i went to ive it nudge and its pretty heave. would it fit my XJ? or would it just be so heavy it wouldnt do much good. we were thinkin of bolt-on plus some heavy duty welding. but would it fit on or be a waste of time and cause loss in power or weight distribution issues?
