So my mirrors on my 96 are worthless due to the PO breaking the clips on them, all they do is wobble when wind hits them. I would like to put the newer 97-01 style mirrors on but was wondering if there was anything fancy that needed done due to having the manual mirrors. Will the new mirrors use the same adjustment rod or is more needed? And help would be appreciated.

The old adj. rod should come out easily i replaced mine cuz one mirror was broke. The 97 doors should mount right on if you just want to replace everything plus it gets rid of the quarter glass that the 96s have
Engine: 4.0L HO I-6, 703 Injectors, Brown Dog Super Engine Mounts

they'll bolt right in - both the inner and outer pieces swap. I have no idea whether the inner trim piece/rod is the same...
I did the mirror swap (97+) the mirrors are adjusted through just pressing the glass around. Their where no adjustment rods on the new ones. Easy swap. Save your seals on your old mirrors if they are still good. I had to use a little longer screws as well to get it to mount securely
Awesome guys thanks for the help! As soon as Christmas break from college comes I look forward to finally fixing this, maybe I'll actually be able to see what's behind me for once.
Non disconnect is meant by that the axle does not have a vacuum disconnect to engage in the front axle. The vacuum disconnect has a two piece long side axle shafts. Not the best design. And as for the which joint the only u-joints on the front axle are the ones between the inner and outer axle shafts.
Yes the axle is better than a 2001 dana 30 that axle is a low pinion the 95-99 axle is high pinion.

Thanks !! Thought I had seen reference to the disco on some axles, was unsure if it referenced drive shaft joint.
Because of some water injestion on front, I can see a rebuild in the future. Which means time to regear, which means better axle if possible. Be nice to find one with a 4:10
Presume HP would give more favorable pinion angle? All the brakes, etc will bolt up?
Special note on this: The rotors you install should be chosen for the year of the hubs. Chrysler changed rotor types a few times, between full cast and composite. Composite is a stamped steel center, as a result the studs in the hubs are shorter than the cast variation. These days there are "full cast for OE composite" rotors for sale just about everywhere. All you have to do is make sure the studs are long enough for the rotors you have.
Mind you when you swap axles it's a good time to do the hubs
