i still think the best intake set up is the cowl induction one. either spectre or home brew. it pulls cold air in, you cant see it, wont get knocked off on a trail, and most people wont need to go in water deep enough to submerge it.

I'm thinking the same. My alternator is 26 years old and probably due for a swap soon. I do like upgrades.

Precisely the opinion of most of the experienced people on here.

I dont have the link on hand but there is a guy who details out how to cut and mount the factory alternator brackets to the ac brackets. Takes a few hours and a new belt

[QUOTE=NewKindOfClown;2458814]If you don't have a heat shield, you don't have a C.A.I. UNLESS it's pulling air from outside the engine bay. If you put in that K&N that sits in the same spot as the factory air box, it won't have any more worthwhile effect than if you had replaced your factory air filter. And you might need a new IAT.

My I.A.T works fine. Like i said over the winter when it would be like 20° in the morning I would make a 3 mile city drive to the E-way and my intake temps would reach like 43°once I would jump on the E-way like 5 miles down my I.A.T's would just start to drop, ive done this test many times where the I.A.T's on my phone are telling my my intake temps are past freezing level (32 mile highway commute to work) ive gotten a I.A.T reading of -5°! I questiond it so I pulled over the nearest lot popped the hood and the TB&intake manifold where ICE COLD! So with that being said to my conclusion is that my homemade C.A.I is drawing in cold air that comes threw the grill, my C.A.I sits right next to 5he E.C.M behind the headlight

The problem is when you are going 3-5mph on a trail, or stock in a traffic jam.
Of course your going to get cold air when driving at speed.
For some odd reason my cowl intake got rid of my soak issue, even when driving on the beach on a hot summer North Carolina day.

The point is that the C.A.I intake works hands down! The cowl erea is still going to be baked by the sun and engine heat

I'm sorry you're butt hurt that no one said "yay you got a good deal on something that's usually expensive". Sorry but the cowl intake has been proven to be effective at pulling cool air. Just ask the late 60s-early 70s. They made them like that for a reason.

I think it's cool that you got it for cheap. It apparently isn't everyone's cup of tea. I'm running a throttle body spacer. Does it work? No, but it's my jeep and I wanted to work on it and I got the thing for cheap.
It's your rig, do what you want. Bottom line.

Now, can we please move on and talk about junk yard parts that work on our jeep? Save your debate for elsewhere. I'd like for this thread to not get closed.
Thank you

Here is the conclusion..... all the old tech savy people say that cold air intakes are useless and dangerous. A giant waste of money.

All the kids who think jeeps are honda's, and go fast, and still think nightshade on tail lights is the koolest thing ever think that a cia is awesome for the butt dyno.......

I wonder sometimes..... if you dam kids are eating paint chips because adults say not too?

Nooo....

Whether or not they increase ponies, they do make an engine more efficient.

There was an article where they took everything to the dyno, I couldn't find it though. But it's the same concept as a high flow exhaust. The easier air can move through, the more power you get, though it's minimal.
