Default Broken off oil pressure sending unit

I tried to install a new sending unit today but over tightened it, and it broke off in the hole. It's going to be very difficult to get it out, as it broke just a few mm outside the hole. However, I noticed that the hole is actually in another hex head that similarly appears to be threaded into the block. Is it a big deal to simply unscrew the larger hex head bolt out, then it would be much easier to get the threads out. I found a pic of this fitting on another thread, and with apologies to original poster, would like to post it here to illustrate? (Note that unlike in this picture, the hex fitting is broken off, so I cannot use it).... Can I unscrew that larger hex head from the block?

Yes, it screws right out.

Before taking it out note the position of the hole for the OPS relative to the dipstick. You don't want to go back on tight with that hole lined up with the dipstick - you'll have problems with putting the OPS on. It's a pipe thread fitting so you'll have the urge to reef it down tight and find yourself beyond the OPS hole alignment.

Before putting that fitting back on, wire wheel the threads clean and use RTV to seal the threads. Allow the RTV to set up for at least 2 hours before running the engine.

Here's a pic showing the relative position of the OPS connector to the dipstick.

That metal part from the oil pressure sensor screws out, I snapped mine off a few days ago and had to replace it. Super easy

Excellent advice! I did back out the fitting, and you're right, it was easy! I will follow your guidance, and thanks again
