Lightbulb Broken door planel part, anyone had this problem?

I decided to tint my windows this weekend, everything went well and it looks great other than 1 thing. When I was removing the drivers side front door panel, I heard a snap and something bounced off the ceiling and then 100 other things in the garage before coming to rest, who knows where. The plastic piece that secures the lock cable to the back of the door handle is now gone, giving me hell with the door locking/unlocking now. The door handle appears to be attached to the panel with some sort of permanent fasteners so I don't know if I can just replace that piece or the whole door panel? Anybody else know? Thanks!

Those are available at most well stocked auto parts stores. They slide over the rod and clamp onto the rods length to secure the rod into the hole. Hard to explain but try the parts section at the store with the "Help" branded stuff.

Ahh I wish that was the case! The little clamp piece you're speaking of actually didn't break, but the piece that the clamp snaps into on the door panel. I think I've fixed it though, I just drilled a hole in a small piece of sheet metal and I've got it clamped on there with some gorilla glue right now. Hope it holds

I use it every day, and it's held up fine over the past couple of years

Hey thanks for the reply. Can you describe what you did a little more, because i would love for mine to last a couple of years. Did you make two holes, one for the handle rod and one for the lock rod?

Yeah I sure did. It was a tedious process because the pieces I was working with were pretty small. I made two identical ones and sandwiched the broken plastic in between them. To be honest with you, I think my "sheet metal" was just a cut up can lol. Doesn't get much better than free!

free is always good... did you do one sandwich of metal on the broken plastic piece for the lock and one for the handle.

I believe it was all one piece, but I can't remember for sure...
