Quote: The sticker on the car says 1.25 pounds. A post on the forum said 1.75 pounds and some said 1.5. So I did just over 1.25.
20oz = 1.25lb

With the compressor not engaging, sounds like a switch/electrical issue. As long as the clutch cycles when you jump it.

From my understanding, if it's too low on refrigerant, the system won't come on by design. The low pressure switch will prevent it from activating to protect the compressor, apparently.

Let us know how you make out. Mine is not working now because of this, I believe. I want to get mine charged and determine for sure that my evap core is leaking, but if I can do this myself with one of those kits and jumping the compressor, I might go that route...

Not too surprising with my POS. The ground is tight and did nothing, the clutch isn't engaging either.

I had it checked for leaks, but I'm assuming that's the problem? Could it be a fuse?

After the ac blend doors were repaired by the owner before me, my grand cherokee had weak air and it was the 2 wires that plug into the round blower (round and behind the glovebox) causing it to blow in reverse. I pushed out the two wires out from in the plug, rotated the plug and pushes the wires back into the plug. This caused the blower to work properly. The problem is very common with jeep ac blend doors instructions in repair kits.

you said everything is new--exactly what parts are new? the compressor, dryer and evaporator?

did you make sure you have the correct amount of oil in the system?

I'll check out the blend door. New parts: compressor, condenser and lower hose. It was just a new AC kit from Star Auto Parts. I only changed it because of the clutch noise, I didn't tamper with anything else that's why I'm so confused, it worked perfect before that but screamed like a pig. The kit came with the oil and flush for it as well.

Is there a common place for leaks in the AC system?

I forced jumped it, the compressor engaged so I'm gonna take it to a local auto place I think. Unless I can find the leak and repair it?
