Default Brakes got weak

Been super cold here lately this morning my 2001 Cherokee Sport felt like the brakes failed, pedal went down, then kinda came back. Where do I start looking? TIA

Check for wet spots near the rear drums follow the lines up and down and check the front calipers for leaks to. I just replaced the master cylinder on my red jeep. The peddle went to the floor and never really came back so that might be something to look into. I got my replacement for $14 after tax at oriellys and wasn't that much of a hassle to replace.

check fluid in the reservoir > if low, this suggest your loosing brakefluid
check for leaks at the rear wheel cylinders and lines
check for leaks at front calipers
Check for leaks in engine bay at MC and valve assembly

Does your pedal hold firm when pumped with key out?
Or does it now feel unusual stiff while driving after your episode of pedal-went- down?

The right side rear tire is "wet" on the inside, could be brake fluid leaking out? Brake pedal moves a lot more than yesterday but she still stops OK.

Yep. Wheelcylinder most likely.

It (see my signature ) will still stop, since the majority of the breaking power is not only unto the front wheels > rear wheels, but in case of a significant leak 'detection' in the rear, the 'break pressure' will be shifted to the front wheels (and vice versa) as a safety measure.

If your wheel cylinder is the cause, replace the one on the other side as well, while your at it...

Hey thanks for asking! Replaced everything on the right rear brake, too cold to do much else right now. She's back on the road good as new.

Good on ye, that it's back on the road.
Get that other side done as well.
The front brakes are a lot easier to work with
