Default Brakes gone after backfire!?

Hey Guys,

Need some serious help here, maybe I am missing something.

Drove the jeep this morning to work, tried to go to lunch and the jeep had a hard time starting, it didn't turn over the first try.

Tried it again and it started but I heard a loud POP under the hood and it looks like it backfired in the intake manifold and blew off the LDP hose from the manifold so I put it back on and now i have no brakes at all.

I checked the hoses but maybe I am missing one?

The brake pedal is stiff as can be and will not move at all, am I missing another hose that possibly popped off? Has anyone heard of a backfire in the intake blowing the brake booster?

Thanks!

I have never heard of a backfire blowing the brake booster. But you may want to check the check valve that is on the brake booster that is connected to the hose to the manifold. I have had the check valve blow out and the brake peddle did get hard to push.

Thanks I will check that, that is the piece connected into the brake booster correct?

Does that just pull out with some force? I do not want to break anything.

it just pulls out but the little plastic piece is a one way valve you might have broke the inside of the check valve just something to think about

Correct! Just pull it out. You may have to give it a little twist when pulling it just to get it loose. Since it is a check valve you should only be able to blow through it one way and not the other.
Let us know what you find.
Good luck.

Thanks guy you were a big help

After looking closer at it, it had actually blew the entire top off of the check valve!

Thanks again!

Cool! At least it wasn't anything major.
