Default Brakes

Any idea what would cause my front right rotor to look like this?

And since they look like that, have any recommendations for new brakes? I am replacing all my rotors, pad, shoes, and drums.

have you checked your pads to see if any pad is left? if there isnt the rotor will get scored like that. this just happened to mine but they have deep groves in them so i have to get them turned.

there is probably nothing left or the previous owner has put on new pads on scored rotors.

There really is not alot of pad left.

That is correct. The left rotor and pad is in surprisingly good shape.

Don't lose time, buy a NEW set of rotors and pads, both sides.

Thats what I am working on. Any experience with Napa rotors and pads? Other places are charging over $100 to get parts up here.

napa has good stuff. i recommend getting GOOD pads. i notice a huge difference stepping up from the 30 dollar to say the 70 dollar pads.

First off, if there is significant difference in the wear of the pads between the sides, look for a stuck caliper piston, dragging caliper slides, or an internally decayed brake hose, or you'll be in the same place with the new parts.

I worked at an independent automotive repair facility where we purchased Wearever brand brake rotors from Advance Auto Parts. They're reasonably priced and only need cleaning before installation (never had one come in needing to be trued).

I just went down to Schucks and got my parts. The total was $110. We will see how long they last.

if the caliper is crazy hard to compress to get the new pads in, its shot, get a new one. theyre like 19 bucks after core anyway- crazy cheap.
