Here's the skinny:
99 XJ 4.0, AW4.
Issue, just recently the brake pedal will come to rest just barely low enough that it trips the brake light switch.
Brake response feels okay, but may be a little on the "soft" side.
Almost new brakes all the way around.
Have not taken all the wheels off, but have checked back side of each and does not appear to have any leaks.
No leaking detected around or under the brake master cylinder.
Reservoir - no detecting of any loss of fluid.
Lines appear to be in good condition.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!
Jeep is 19 yrs old but only has 90k on it.
Question.. is it possible that having old fluid could be the cause of this affect?
Or even though I don't have any leaks it could be the BMC?
At least with the Jeep off, if I pump the brake pedal a couple times it does seem to get a bit stiffer.

1st check the rear brakes and then readjust them sometimes as they seat in they can use to be adjusted . if that doesn't help you can try bleeding the the brakes .

will look more at the lines and fluid. I should've said that while the brakes are fairly new, they are will passed that point. a few thousand miles on them. I'm just really hoping that it's the fluid causing it and not something like the master cyl /booster assembly crapping out even though neither is leaking externally at all.

Note from DJ
Some of the years of brake switches; the center plunger that the brake pedal touches can be pulled out so when you apply the brakes for the first time it readjusts itself.
You might go to your local parts house and ask to look at the wright on for your Jeep to see if you have that style.
